Manicures

Manicures are a popular way in which both men and women enhance their personal style. For a man's manicure, many men opt to have their hands massaged in lotion and then they soften and push back the cuticles of their nails. The man's nails are then usually trimmed and buffed to make a smooth, matte finish. A woman's manicure can take form in many ways.

Some women opt to go with a more natural look, with the ever-popular "French" manicure. A French manicure consists of the tips of the nails being painted white and the rest of the nail being painted a pale beige or pink. French manicures give the illusion of healthy nails, thus making it one of the more popular choices.

Another style of manicure is the "regular" manicure. Like the French manicure, and most other manicures, a regular manicure consists of trimming the nails and pushing back the cuticles. The nails may be buffed to a smooth finish and in the case of a regular manicure, painted any color the nail's owner desires.

In more recent years, acrylic nails and fake nails have also become popular. Acrylic nails and fake nails are applied on top of your existing nails and tend to be painted in trendy designs.

Pedicures

Pedicures are also popular with both men and women. Pedicures are fairly similar to manicures, with basically the same procedure. Hands are usually washed in a footbath and then moisturized by lotion. Any calluses on the feet are usually buffed away by a pumice stone. The cuticles of the toenails are then pushed back and the toenails trimmed. With women, many choose to adorn their toenails with polish or with a French manicure-like style. There are also many other "relaxing" types of pedicures, which consist of special lotions that help the body to relax.
