Have you ever wondered why you feel out of place at certain gatherings, or why you just don't feel very good about yourself? Do you go through times when you feel as though you just aren't good enough to become the person you used to dream you could be?
A lot of people don't realize that the way we see ourselves and the people around us is largely determined by the way we are told to see things. For example, if you say a standalone luxury home for sale in Toronto that was perfect but completely surrounded by state of the art St. Lawrence Market condos the standalone house would still seem out of place and odd. If you don't believe this theory to be true, then spend some time at a local junior high school, maybe surrounded by Erin Mills homes. Nowhere can someone see the impact of societal views on beauty and the "better" qualities demonstrated than around a pack of teenagers. And the viewing of what is popular and better will be different here than at a private school on central Toronto real estate.
Today, we live in a culture that has become more obsessed with a more homogeneous view of beauty than at any other time in history. You do not have to look very far to see just how prevalent those societal views are. The tabloids are splashed with pictures of celebrities who don't look their best, and those photos are usually tagged with demeaning headlines. Celebrities are expected to spend an hour getting ready to go to the hardware store or attend a protest on lagoon cleaning. The people on television commercials and product packaging for items you use don't tend to have much similarity to you. Even the music industry has become more about packaging than product.
Societal views on beauty can't help but affect each and every one of us on some level. Accidentally or not, we have all become socially conditioned to judge a book by its cover, at least on first glance.
At Cysera, we want you to take a look at exactly how societal views shape your own outlook, not just towards the people around you but about yourself as well. We will do this through a large variety of articles. Some will focus on the perceptions people have towards beauty and success; some will contain more information geared towards the understanding of societal views as they have developed over history. For example, if you were hearing a sales pitch from a woman on webpage templates would you give her more or less attention of she was attractive? Would you have a different impression if she were selling Leaside real estate or promoting Caregivers in Canada?
Societal views will impact all of us in different ways, often along demographic lines. What society regards as good in a male may not be embraced within a female, and vice versa. What is expected from a person of 30 is not the same as that expected from a 20 year old. Age, gender, culture, and even background can serve to determine the societal view of the person, as far as who they are or who they should be is concerned. For some, making polyester slings for shipping is good honest work, while others would see is as beneath them or settling. We will take a look at some of these perceptions in depth.
You will also find articles within this section that pertain to subjects other than physical appearance. While this may be the driving factor in societal perceptions today, the fact is that attitudes, outlooks, charisma, even the amount of money we pay for services are all interpreted through a societal filter. These are all areas that we will touch on in many of the articles that we post to this section.
At Cysera we want you to experience a re-awakening. Understanding the way societal views impact your inner and outer self can have a huge impact on both your ability to re-awaken and on keeping you awake. The goal of this section of the site is to impart that knowledge to you, to help you truly understand the power of your re-awakening.
